On Monday, July 7th, we gathered at The Hive Community Clay in Saint Petersburg for a Paint ‘n Sip Fundraiser that was as vibrant as the canvases we created. Hosted by the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg Area and guided by Art Den, this sold-out event welcomed 32 attendees plus representatives from the League and the Tampa Bay Abortion Fund for an evening of creativity and purpose.
Guests chose from a variety of pre-sketched hair options — long hair, short hair, locs, or afro — and brought their unique visions to life on 11″x14″ gallery-wrapped canvases. With a glass of wine in hand and laughs all around the room, everyone painted “Breaking Free,” a silhouette celebrating individuality and empowerment.
New artists and seasoned creatives alike found themselves immersed in the relaxing, step-by-step process led by Art Den instructors. The Hive provided a beautiful space for the experience — this welcoming community space is dedicated to offering accessible pottery, art classes, and shared studio time to St. Pete’s creative community.
Most importantly, net proceeds from the event will support the Tampa Bay Abortion Fund, which helps people in the Tampa Bay area access safe abortion care without financial barriers. The evening also offered an opportunity to learn more about the League of Women Voters’ mission to empower voters and defend democracy.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who joined us, filled the room with joy, and contributed to an important cause. The response was overwhelming — this event sold out completely, and we’re already planning more sessions in the future.
